Finance

FINANCE

As an independent Church, we have to be self financing and this can be a challenge!

If you would like any more information, please do ask.

Costs of being a church

Our running cost are in the order of £275,000 per year, which includes

  • staff (8 people mostly working part time, and mostly directly serving the community)
  • support for mission (UK and abroad)
  • buildings and their maintenance
  • legal stuff – insurance etc

We give 10% of the income we receive away to support mission (home and abroad) and disaster relief.

The remaining 90% of our expenditure is split roughly equally between the running costs of the church and the various community projects (CAP debt relief centre, 5 Minus Pre-School playgroup, Schools and young peoples work and our Seniors meetings).

Income

Our members and congregation fund about 70% of the costs.

We do not take an offering during the service, preferring to leave it to people to seek God’s leading in their giving. There is a box available on Sundays, but most people give via the banking system.

15% comes from letting our various rooms to other organisations and individuals.

The remaining 15% (approx. £40,000) is a challenge we face each year. Sometimes we are able to obtain grants, other years we receive unexpected gifts.

The Lord provides.  Would you like to be part of that provision?

Giving via the banking system

You can ask your bank to send a one-off amount, or a repeating amount by standing order to:

  • Bank:  Barclays Bank

  • Account Name: West Street Christian Fellowship

  • Sort Code: 20-24-09

  • Account No: 30916935

Gift Aid

If you are a UK income tax payer, we can claim back some of the tax you have paid to the UK government. For each £10 you give under this scheme, we can claim back another £2.50 with no cost to you.
